This prevents unauthorised motor vehicles from being driven onto the cycle path. It seems to be a new design, with stainless steel side panels to give a smooth passage for cyclists who might wobble sideways whilst riding through. I was pleased to discover that the ends of my bike's handlebars had an inch of clearance on each side, unlike earlier types of A-frame that were too narrow.
