On the left at 21 High Street is Mayflower Chinese Takeaway. Next door at 19 High Street is the Blue Bell pub and restaurant. The building can be traced back to 1810 when it was a private residence. The earliest reference to a public house here was in 1849. The name The Bluebell dates from 1852, although the name on the wall in this view, is Blue Bell not Bluebell (the flower). The pub name sign depicts a blue bell.
