A milestone from the Wadsley, Langsett and Sheffield Road situated at 'Green.' As recent as the late C19th., this area and the whole of the western part of Bolsterstone Parish were still identified as the District of Green, after Green Farm at its centre. The fire station was formally opened in 1971.
