The dual carriageway A417 bypasses its original route, thus deviating from the straight line of Roman Ermin Street. Presumably there were good reasons for creating a new line for the A417 when it was made into a dual carriageway here, as much of the dual carriageway follows the former route. The services can be glimpsed beside the stretch of original road.
