Thomas Moore was a local magistrate in the late 17th century who donated a field for use as a quaker burial ground. A meeting place was subsequently built here. The current building, the third on the site, was built in 1984 with part of the land being used at the same time for a sheltered housing development, appropriately name Thomas Moore House.
