Allegedly named for Charles Sharpe VC, who was born in Pickworth and worked in Bourne after the first world war. Unfortunately the road name is spelled differently. See http://www.thelincolnshireregiment.org/vc.shtml#sharpe for details of Charles Sharpe. Update: the local authority eventually corrected the name (Image]). In August 2013 the OS agreed to correct the maps, when I submitted this page as evidence. By December 2013 it was still outstanding.
