Opened in 1890 by the Preston & Wyre Joint Railway on its lines from Preston to Blackpool and Fleetwood, to replace an earlier station slightly further west (see Image). View west towards Blackpool some 8 years before the line was electrified, a new platform added to the right and a new footbridge connecting to it. See Image for a 2018 image taken from the new platform.
