Opened in 1852 by the Liverpool, Crosby & Southport Railway, this station replaced an earlier 1848 "Crosby" station some 300m behind the camera position. View north west towards Hall Road and Southport. Originally south of the Blundellsands Road level-crossing, the station was rebuilt north of it in 1865, and then rebuilt to the form shown here in 1882. The former level-crossing crossed the railway just in front of the station building and has been replaced by a pedestrian underpass.
