When I took this picture during a free period in the summer term, work was well advanced on the new classroom block, to replace the 1959 building nearer Queen Edith's Way which was later demolished and rebuilt as offices, laboratories and classrooms. The building, much appreciated by staff and pupils, opened later in 1996. (A later building project, completed in 2010, saw the whole of this 11-18 comprehensive school concentrated on the Queen Edith's Way site and the Lower School, on Gunhild Way, demolished. The 2010 buildings are to the left of these.)
