Only the UHF TV antennae and the burglar alarm show that this photo was not taken in the 1930s. These are typical British suburban villas, of the upper-middle classes. The fence is original. The black-and-white dormer is of the style known as 'mock Tudor', a pejorative phrase when it was coined.
