Roadside Reeds in the Carse of Gowrie

The North bank of the river Tay is a prolific source of thatching reeds. These were growing in a drainage ditch beside the road between Broomhall and Rawes farm. Until recently, these were a valuable cash crop, but cheap imports from Poland have destroyed the industry.
