Opened in 1845 by the Manchester & Leeds Railway (later to become part of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway), this station once had a large island platform with bays, and an overall roof. The island platform is still there, but the facilities have been somewhat reduced. View west from a later westbound platform addition, towards Huddersfield and Brighouse.
