View eastward, towards London: ex-GW&GC Joint Paddington - Birmingham/Marylebone - Sheffield main lines, which were joint for about 50 miles between Northolt Junction and Ashendon Junction. The Fast lines in the centre were probably taken up in the 1960s. (Cf. 1961 scene at Image]).
