The Round House was built by Mrs Benson who owned the Manor: "Chapel Lane contains the Wesleyan Methodist chapel, dated 1854, where services are held each Sunday. Utterby had three chapels at one time, the Primitive and Free Methodist chapels being no longer in use. Also in Chapel Lane is the recently built Benson Court, a group of homes for the elderly called after Mrs Katherine Benson who owned the manor in the last century. She was an eccentric lady, who fought to prevent the railway coming near to the village. The line did run about a mile east of Utterby where there was a halt, but alas, it fell to the Beeching axe. Mrs Benson was also responsible for the building of The Round House in Grange Lane, though it is octagonal in shape." See:http://www.louthuk.com/historydetail.php?id=24889&cid=592&f=Louth
