As can be seen from the map the old Meon Valley Railway ran through a cutting here. The railway joined Farham to Alton and was 22.5 miles long, including two tunnels one of which is just south of this picture. The cutting has been filled in, submerging the Vinnels Lane bridge up to its parapet, and is now the site of detritus and fly-tipping.
