By far the largest retail outlet in Thirsk. Despite this, the town has a number of thriving food retailers in the town centre. This store is built on the site of the Thirsk Town railway station, at the end of the line from Melmerby on the Leeds Northern line to Northallerton. See http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/t/thirsk_town/index.shtml for a history of the station and photos before and after closure in 1966. It had been used only for goods traffic since 1855!
