Looking along Charles Street, past the remains of the former New Broadcasting House. New Broadcasting House, the regional headquarters of BBC North West on the site bounded by Oxford Road, Charles Street, Brancaster Street and the River Medlock was built between 1971 and 1975; it was officially opened by Prime Minister James Callaghan in 1976. The building was vacated in November 2011 when the BBC completed its move to MediaCityUK and now, less than a year later, is just a pile of rubble.
