It's rare to get an opportunity to stand inside a drained lock, but on this day the Canal & River Trust (formerly British Waterways) was holding an open day showing the public maintenance work in progress. The workers in the background were fitting a new lock gate. Note the original brickwork on the bottom of the lock.
