The National Media Museum is situated in the centre of Bradford, UNESCO City of Film; it is part of the National Museum of Science and Industry. The museum, which is on the site of a former theatre and art gallery, first opened to visitors on the 16 June 1983 as “The National Museum of Photography, Film and Television”. The museum was renamed the “National Media Museum” in 2006. The museum’s website (http://www.nationalmediamuseum.org.uk/AboutUs.aspx National Media Museum “About Us” ) states that they “aim to be the best museum in world for inspiring people to learn about, engage with and create media”.
