Large pub on the corner of High Street and Chapel Hill, opposite a 14th century market cross, http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3232009 a depiction of which appears in The Cross's name sign.http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3232033 The building dates from the 17th century. The Cross pub has occupied the building since at least 1870. Grade II listed in 1988.
