The 13 km Deerness Valley Railway Path is one of a number of railway paths in county Durham. This path runs from Broom Park to Crook and is particularly attractive as a haven for nature http://www.durham.gov.uk/durhamcc/usp.nsf/pws/Durham+Wildlife+Sites+-+Deerness+Valley+Railway+Path. The path is very popular with walkers, cyclists and horse-riders.
