Autumn on Wimbledon Common

This photograph is taken on the far western edge of Wimbledon Common, next to the Beverley Brook which is just to the left of the path. The Beverley Brook rises at Cuddington Recreation Ground near Nonsuch Park, eventually reaching the River Thames near Putney after flowing along the edge of Wimbledon Common and through Richmond Park. The Beverley Brook derives its name from the fact that beavers formerly lived in the river. These have been extinct in Britain since Tudor times. Beaver's Ley is a place where beavers live. The path here is part of the Beverley Brook Walk.
