I can't say I much like this memorial - brick looks distinctly cheap in this context. In fairness it should be said that after the Great War the money raised by the memorial appeal was mainly used to build Hornsea War Memorial Cottage Hospital. This is now threatened with closure as part of the current NHS re-organization. If the site is sold it would be nice to think that some of the money accruing might be spent on something more imposing at this site.
