Opened as "Blankney and Metheringham" in 1882 by the Great Northern Railway and Great Eastern Railway on their joint line from Lincoln to Sleaford, this station closed in 1961 and was demolished. It was rebuilt and reopened as "Metheringham" in 1975, with minimal facilities. View north west from the level crossing. The signal box on the left was however always called "Blankney". At the time this image was taken, it controlled manual signalling and traditional wooden level crossing gates. When Image was taken 10 years later, the box was closed, signals were colour light and lifting barriers had replaced the old gates.
