This is a 1925 rebuild of a conventional locomotive by Sentinel of Shrewsbury and has No. 6185. This shows the remains of the vertical fire tube boiler and the inverted vertical duplex enclosed engine with poppet valves. This is an advanced steam engine with some overlap with automotive designs. The final drive is by chain on the side opposite the photographer. A more complete locomotive (No. 6155 of 1925) is seen in the background.
