The bridge provides an alternative route when Hazel Brook floods, as now. Normally, Hazel Brook flows through a culvert under Henbury Road. Today's flooding is caused by a mass of fallen autumn leaves blocking the culvert. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3206481
