A characteristic jumble of house-types, some built on the sites of older properties: the walls in the foreground are more of an age with the distant villa than the near bungalow: different styles, different orientations, different views as the old roads wind up the steep hillsides. The headland beyond the white chimney is the Ness. Across the bay are Babbacombe and St Marychurch. The low promontory on the left is Hope's Nose, northern end of Torbay.
