Originally built in 1773, Rossington Hall (photos in square SK6396), burnt down but was rebuilt, and re-occupied in 1882 by the Streatfeild family. For full and fascinating history see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Rossington_Hall For more than 50 years Rossington Hall housed a Special School for pupils with moderate learning difficulties. The school closed in 2008, and the Rossington Hall estate was put up for sale by Doncaster Council. It included 255 acres, of which 40 per cent is let on a 97-year lease to the Northern Racing College. The Hall is now being restored and already in use, as the sign shows, as a wedding, function and conference venue. The restoration of this lodge has also started.
