The 340 Km Southern Upland Way which runs from Portpatrick to Cockburnspath is one of 18 official National Trails in Britain and was the first to be established which runs from "Coast to Coast". It appears that the Way, which here traverses some very boggy ground does not coincide with the position shown on the Landranger map at this point. On the horizon are hills on the west side of Nithsdale.
