Saint Mary's is the parish church of Barton & Sandhills. The church was built in 1958 and was designed by Nugent Cachemaille-Day. Between 1931 and 1963 he designed at least 61 churches many of which now have English Heritage Listed status. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nugent_Francis_Cachemaille-Day
