The War Memorial in Norfolk Square comprises a stone monument on a multi-stepped base and topped by a statue of an angel holding a laurel wreath (Image). The inscription for World War I is: IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE MEN OF GLOSSOP WHO IN THE GREAT WAR GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY, 1914-1918. "THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE" and for World War II: IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR KING AND COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WORLD WAR 1939 - 1945 There are also four metal plaques carrying the names of Glossop residents who were killed in the two World Wars.
