View SW on the A917 from St Andrews to the left of the site of Crail station, which had been on the ex-NBR Fife Coast line from Thornton Junction and Leven to St Andrews: the whole line from Leven to St Andrews was closed to passengers from 6/9/65, but goods traffic to Crail from Leven lingered on until 18/11/66. (Extraordinarily, St Andrews became isolated from rail services altogether from 6/1/69, when the branch from Leuchars Junction was closed).
