Historic coaching inn situated at the junction of three old turnpike roads. Legend associates this pub with Dick Turpin who hid out here with his steed Black Bess in a secret stable behind the pub but there's also a lost tunnel built by monks connecting the cellar with Wingfield Manor. Richard Felix famously lost his bottle (twice) while exploring this tunnel in his 'Haunted Derbyshire' documentaries.
