Ancient hollow way

This road was well made with tarmac but was clearly an old hollow way linking the hilltops with the river valley at Hathersage. The beech tree with substantial roots has already been featured but it was a winter photo so I think a second photo is justified. Just East of here the road parts company with the old hollow way which is still used as a footpath with original earthy depth and historic feel.
