I personally love the South Wales Valleys. I love imagining what they looked like before the coming of industry. I love the regeneration since the 1980's. I love a landscape where you can get a housing estate essentially on an upland hillside like a pea on a drum. I love the people - always nodding and saying "A'right" or "Hiya" (or shouting unintelligible things from passing boy racer cars) and I love it that they love it here. The potential for hill-walking is also high but very under-realised and I love that.
