The village nestles amongst a patchwork of arable fields on the gentler slopes below the escarpment that terminates at the coast at Tyneham Cap (SY8979). On the right can be seen the western end of the Purbeck Hills ridge. Also visible is Kimmeridge Bay (SY9079) on the left and Portland, some 23km or more away on the horizon.
