Constructed in 1897 with giant oak king post roof trusses, galleried landing and oak beamed floors about 8,000 sq.ft. each floor. The building has planning permission for re-development. On about half an acre the proposed development of 25 one bedroom and 25 two bedroom apartments includes a block of garages with parking for 22 cars and 10,000 sq.ft of office space. With 34,250 sq.ft of residential accommodation and 10% communal space the anticipated refurbishment cost is £2m with a final sales value of £4m. Gleadell Agriculture Ltd now in Hemswell Cliff is a leading malting barley trading company purchasing 150,000 tons per annum. Established over 120 years ago as a maltster in Kirton Lindsey it was respected for its innovative ideas, according to its own publicity.
