The Royal Artillery Barracks were the venue for the shooting events at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics (and the archery events at the latter). For the rifle and pistol competitions, temporary pavilions were built, to a design of Magma Architecture. They are skinned in white PVC with pink dimples, which serve for entrance/exits (at ground level) or ventilation, as well as keeping the PVC in tension. Seen here is the qualifying range for the 10m and 50m pistol and rifle events (the 25m qualifying range being in a separate structure). In the background are flats fronting Woolwich Common with the 75m Nightingale Heights beyond, dating from 1968.
