Norman Gateway, Lewes Castle

Lewes Castle stands at the highest point of Lewes. It was built in 1069 by William de Warenne, 1st Earl of Surrey, who was the brother-in-Law of William the Conqueror. This is the main Norman gateway to the castle and lies just beyond the Barbican Gate - see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3119662
