This plaque is attached to the wall of the Thomas Paine Hotel, giving details of Paine's life. He is described as a 'journalist, patriot and champion of the rights of the common man'. The plaque is dated October 21st 1943 and was erected through the 'voluntary contributions of soldiers of an American Airforce Group.'
