Started by Mark Savery here in The Plain in 1871, the business has been run by four generations of the Savery family. The signage in a ground floor window shows that in 2012 the business is emergency locksmiths; keys cut; locks fitted and repaired. A notice on the Santa and sleigh at first floor level shows Christmas Greetings Oldbury Power Station. The branch of Coventry building society on the right was formerly a branch of Stroud & Swindon building society. In March 2010, the Coventry announced that it would be merging with the Stroud & Swindon to create a society, under the Coventry brand, with 1½ million members and 91 branches in the West Midlands and South West England.
