This group of stone-built cottages clearly pre-dates the typical brick-built terraces of the mid to late 19th century textile boom period. Although not listed, together with the houses on the north side of Green Street, they form a small local Conservation Area. The large first floor windows of the stone cottages suggests that they may have been built for home-working textile workers.
