Some unsightly buildings that were beyond saving were demolished here. These included Anands sweet shop and Hallidays shoe shop which stood on the corner of Main St/Atlantic Ave. In Atlantic Ave. the shops which were demolished were The Singing Kettle, a small cafe, The Salad Bowl,a fruit and veg shop and Camerons butchers shop.
