The A14 is a major link road between the midlands and Felixstowe Docks (hence the Maersk container). It is often busy and there is no robustness to any problems, leading this stretch to snarl up completely every few months. A proposed widening was scrapped after the 2010 general election to save money. The move will continue the uncertainty in using the road and also invalidated the planning permission for the new town of Northstowe, which was contingent on the increased capacity. Compare with Image, the sign has been removed, replaced by the far more effective measure of an average speed limit, which has helped the road incredibly.
