Northamptonshire's David Sales gets off the mark by clipping Derbyshire's Tony Palladino to the square-leg boundary on the first morning of a County Championship match. Sales was later the victim of a savage lbw decision from umpire Trevor Jesty (writes a neutral observer), and was sent on his way for 26 of Northants' first-day total of 311 for 6. The indoor cricket centre and stand at the far end are on the part of The County Ground once used by Northampton Town FC - see Steve Daniels' Image] for the Cobblers in action here in 1981.
