Here is a early 18th C cottage which uses local building materials. It is now Grade II listed with English Heritage Building ID: 318200. The foundations are of sarsen sandstone, some brick is used for the corners of the walls and the chimney stacks but most of the walls are built of compressed chalk, called clunch.
