Cobbled steps

A pedestrian flight of steps leading from The Struet to Hawthorn Lane, known as King Charles' Steps. A nearby plaque illustrates: 'Cobbled footway associated with the visit of King Charles I to Brecon in August 1645. The King stayed with Colonel Herbert Price at Priory House, now the Cathedral Resource Centre, before marching to the relief of Hereford - then besieged by a Scots army.'
