Built c1845 by Easton & Amos and latterly used at Marvin's Shipyard at Cowes. According to tradition it was originally used at Osborne House to drive a pump. It was displayed at the long defunct Albany Steam Museum and then installed here at the museum at Cothey Bottom. This museum too has long since closed and the site is now the Isle of Wight museum store. Access is by prior arrangement only. The slide valve cylinder is 12" x 20" and the flywheel is 9' diameter. It could be turned on compressed air but this is no longer the case.
