The interior of John Wesley's Methodist Chapel built in 1739. Apparently the wooden pews in the central ground floor area were a later addition, the normal modus operandii being that all but the sick and infirm stood up throughout the religious meetings. The doors in the distance lead out into the "rear" courtyard and thence towards the Broadmead pedestrianised thoroughfare.
