Yes, it may look like an office unit on a business park outside Bracknell, or maybe a secure unit at a new build prison but believe it or not this apartment block has been short-listed for a prestigious award at a national prize-giving ceremony in London. The LABC National Built in Quality Awards, held at The Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, no less. (No, I've never heard of them either). The site was formerly occupied by the Antelope public house - so it redeveloped a brownfield site. This building is a four-storey contemporary apartment block containing twelve two-bedroom apartments. Apparently only the very highest quality materials were used in the design including an aluminium standing seam metal roof, aluminium powder coated windows and doors and specially rendered external walls. The two bedroom apartments sold for £190,000-plus and the development was so popular that all the properties had sold before they were finished. Crazy times we live in. No one could say the building lacks soul.
